Welcome to the Michigan Jobs & Energy Coalition
Michigan's comprehensive energy policy (PA 286 and PA 295) of 2008 was
the product of two years of legislative debate that was enriched through
input from a wide array of interest groups, all of which had to accept
compromises to achieve overarching goals for Michigan.
In the final analysis, a delicate balance emerged that received strong
bipartisan, bicameral support. That policy provides Michigan an
impressive framework to:
1) Encourage new investment and create jobs in Michigan through a reliable energy system
2) Encourage construction of new power plants inside our state's borders to help keep us energy independent
3) Develop renewable resources and energy efficiency programs to create jobs, help clean our air and reduce energy consumption
4) Remove rate skewing so that all customers pay the true cost of service they receive
The Michigan Jobs & Energy Coalition (MJEC) knows the comprehensive
energy policy enacted in 2008 continues to benefit the long-term
interests of Michigan residents and businesses.
Today, the MJEC and its members continue to work toward the goals established in that legislation.
